Epicentre's Booking & Venue Info

Booking Info

If your band wants to get a show here @ the Epicentre, and you have no history with us, there’s a simple process to follow:

  1. Send us an email to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with a link to your myspace, past shows, bands you have played with, and average draw.
  2. You can also e-mail local booking at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or get at us on our myspace: www.myspace.com/theepicentre.
  3. Give us somewhere around a week to listen to your submission (we get a lot every week, so it might take a bit), and if we still haven’t called you up to follow up, call in and leave a voicemail at (858) 271-4000 ext. 17.
  4. We DON"T do any booking over the phone, please only call to follow up.  All booking is done solely though email or myspace.

****SUGGESTIONS ON BOOKING YOUR BAND****

  1. Don't get too carried away with details.  Messages or emails that include a bio about every band member, a three paragraph history of your bands achievements, and 5 reviews from indie websites only make it harder on us and will only make you look more desperate to get booked.  Keep it short and sweet while still being as specific as possible.
  2. Be persistant!  Always follow up after sending in a press kit or email.  We get tons of requests for shows, and if we get back to you make sure you are diligent and respond back to us as soon as possible.  If you are lazy about it, you will get skipped over for another band.
  3. Make sure that your Myspace has a contact info section.  Always include a band email and a contact person.  Talent buyers always try to stay away from communicating through Myspace whenever possible.

DRAW EXPECTATIONS AND PRESALE:
As with any other venue, we are a business that has to make money to keep it’s doors open, so in turn we require all local bands to do an initial pre-sale of 50 tickets minimum.  If you don’t think you can draw this many people, (including end of the night door tally) then you might want to build up a slightly bigger following before moving on to the Epicentre.  Once you have developed a relationship with us and have proven you can draw well, this minimum may be lowered or bypassed completely.

LOCAL SHOWCASES and PAY SCALE:
Local showcases are good ways to establish a relationship with us.  Showcases are meant for bands to draw around 50 people.  Pay scale runs a little differently also:
1st 50 tickets sold= $1 a head
After 50= $2 a head

Showtime (and specs)

Once your band is booked for a show, here’s the specifics:

LOAD IN/CHECK IN:
Usual Load-ins are @ 5:30 pm the day of the show, and Check-ins are @ 6 pm sharp!
If you haven’t sold all 50 tickets by check-in you don’t get a guest list, and unless you make it up at the door, you may not get paid.
**(if the load-ins and check-ins change times, we’ll let you know before the day-off)

HOSPITALITIES:
Local shows and showcases usually just get water provided for each member and discounts on drinks and snacks @ the café

SOUND ISSUES:
We do have a noise constraint of 103 decibels, so in turn we ask that you work with our sound tech to stay under that limit.  We’ll do our best to work with you, but if you refuse to stay under that limit, then we will cut off your set.  This may sound extreme, but you have to understand that we’re a medium sized room with good acoustics, so we don’t need to be turned up too loud, besides, no one wants the show shut down.

GUEST LIST
:
Once you pass the 50 ticket minimum, every band gets 1 spot per-member, plus one merch/crew

PROMOTIONS
:
We’ll do our best to promote ourselves and the show together with all of our other shows, both online, and through our street team.  However, it would be beneficial for both the venue and your band if you went out and did promotions yourselves on top of ours, however you want is up to you (think myspace.com, sandiegopunk.com, flyering, or handing out demos at other venues).

EMERGENCY CANCELLATIONS
:
If you do decide to cancel the show, then we ask you do it at a minimum of 2 and a half weeks before the show date so that we can have some time to find a replacement bands or artist.
